In 2017, right after completing my Bachelor's degree, I went straight into a Master's program with a great deal of motivation. I identified a VNF placement problem in NFV (Network Function Virtualization) and decided to make it my research focus. My supervisor was Dr. Bakhshi, and together we worked on formulating and solving this problem over the course of two years.
Unfortunately, by the end of my Master's, the paper we had been working on wasn't strong enough for publication. We decided to continue and extend the research into a PhD, hoping to bring it to a proper conclusion. However, two things happened that derailed everything: the COVID-19 pandemic hit, and my supervisor relocated to Spain. With these disruptions, the paper was ultimately abandoned and the research was left unfinished.
Despite the outcome, a significant amount of work was done — problem formulation, algorithm design, and simulations. The repositories in this organization contain the code, simulations, and artifacts from that research. They are shared here as a record of the effort and in the hope that they may be useful to others working in the NFV/SDN space.
