Add support for OS X

Right now, attempting to build the project from OS X fails with the following errors:

Consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if you
installed software in a non-standard prefix.
Alternatively, you may set the environment variables MONO_CFLAGS
and MONO_LIBS to avoid the need to call pkg-config.
See the pkg-config man page for more details.

It is very likely that the Makefile.am and/or configure.ac scripts need to be updated with specific sections or configurations to indicate where Mono can be found under OS X.

Unfortunately, I do not have a Mac, so I cannot work easily on this issue yet.

Using mono's homebrew formula doesn't work because it does not install libgdiplus.dylib on OS X.

The easiest way to make it work is to install mono-mdk using Homebrew and then pass the correct variables to autoconf. Here's what I did:

# Assuming you have homebrew installed
brew cask install mono-mdk
PKG_CONFIG_PATH=/Library/Frameworks/Mono.framework/Versions/Current/lib/pkgconfig/ \
    MONO=/Library/Frameworks/Mono.framework/Versions/Current/bin/mono              \
    XBUILD=/Library/Frameworks/Mono.framework/Versions/Current/bin/xbuild          \
    ./autogen.sh
make

make test failed though.

Amazing Daniel! Thanks! This will surely help, at least to get Travis-CI to compile the project under OS X.

Travis builds on OS X are now passing. However, not all tests are being run, as Travis imposes a limit of 50 minutes for jobs to finish running in their OS X infrastructure. About 10 long running tests are being excluded in this build.
