What problem are you facing?

I am trying to use VirtualBox 7.2 on a Debian Linux host with an Epyc 9015 CPU. I believe this is one of the first generation with 5-level page table support, which I believe VirtualBox is not capable of supporting. When I try to launch a VM, the process runs at 100% but never even gets to the virtual BIOS and just stays at a black screen.

Adding "no5lvl" to the kernel options and rebooting immediately resolves this issue.

How can we fix this?

Until 5-level support can be implemented, please have VirtualBox throw a warning that 5-level PT was detected and quit the VM execution. It is very frustrating to see the guest VM spinning with no progress or indication of a problem

What alternatives or workarounds exist?

Implement 5-level PT support??

Anything else we should know?
