I keep my .vdi file on a different partition from the VirtualBox executable and Home folder on Ubuntu. Virtualbox cannot find this file after I reboot the host computer (Ubuntu). I have to open VirtualBox, delete the red hard disk entry, close VirtualBox, rerun VirtualBox, and then rechoose the .vdi file on the other partition. It does remember the file location in-between host (Ubuntu) reboots. My workaround works but should probably not be required. Thanks.
